Non-scoring wrestlers will be used to replace NO ENTRIES to ensure we have full 16 man brackets.
Weight Allowance: As authorized by the VHSL and National federation a one pound allowance will be permitted on Saturday December 28th 2013.
General admission Adult: $6.00 (per session)
Children (6-12): $4.00 (per session)
Students w/ School ID: $4.00 (per session)
All Session passes: $20.00 (all sessions)
*Children under 6 are free
Rules: The current addition of the VHSL Handbook and National Federation Wrestling rule book will be used.
Scoring: The National Federation Wrestling Rule Book, rule 9, section 1 and 2 will be used. We will place top 6 in each weight class. Championship round matches will be 2-2-2 time periods, consolation round matches will be 1-2-2 time periods. Overtime matches will be conducted in accordance with Rule 6 Art. 3 in the National Federation Wrestling rules book.
Uniforms: Federation approved uniforms must be worn. Each school must provide headgear, which is Mandatory! Wrestlers must weigh-in in a suitable undergarment. Please refer to the National Federation Wrestling rule book for all uniform regulations.
Awards: Team Plaques will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Individual medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place finishers. Medals will be presented at the conclusion of each weight class. An Outstanding Wrestler award will be presented and voted on by the participating teams coaching staff.
The Colon E. Baker Classic Tournament Director shall conduct a seeding meeting prior to competition and in such a manner so as to incorporate the following standards and criteria for seeding each wrestler in every weight class:
1. All seeded/non-seeded wrestlers shall be placed in brackets in the following manner and under the following conditions:
If 8 wrestlers have not been seeded through the following point system, then the difference will be made up by seeding the wrestlers who have the best VARSITY won-lost and career record.
These times will be submitted to the Virginia Pilot for coverage and will be final.
Thursday December 26th 2013
4:00 PM Gym will be made available for workouts and weight checks. Designated team personnel will be allowed to decorate their team area.
6:30 PM Coaches meeting will take place in room 74 in the athletic hallway.
7:30 PM Workouts / Coaches meeting concludes and building will be cleared.
Friday December 27th 2013
7:30 AM Building Open for teams and coaches only.
9:00 AM Weigh-ins for all weights – in the wrestling room. (Doors open to public).
10:00 AM Coaches meeting – Brackets will be issued at that time.
11:00 AM 1st & 1st Round Consolation Elimination
(end of session 1 gym will be cleared).
6:00 pm Doors open to the public.
6:30 PM Quarter-Final matches
8:30 PM Second Round Consolations

Facilities: The Great Bridge High School Administration has been gracious enough to provide an excellent facility for this event. The tournament committee requests your full cooperation in making this a successful tournament. Though it should not be necessary to comment on the principles of good sportsmanship or behavior at a tournament of this nature, experience has shown that loose discipline can lead to unfortunate events. The athlete’s participation and well-being in this tournament must be under the direct supervision of the coaching staff or a designated faculty member at all times. If nay property damage is brought to the attention of the tournament committee or the GBHS administration every effort will be made to identify and remove the individual/individuals responsible.
